Show Stolen Car Charges Await Trio Arrested Near Crescent Junction Three Dyre Act violators were arrested near Crescent Junction this week and held in Grand County jail until the U. S. Marshall arrived from' Salt Lake City to take them into custody. fcugene B. Dickerson, 27 of Orman Florida, was arrested 2 miles West of Crescent Junction by Utah State Highway High-way Patrolman Kay Jewkes. He was driving a 1968 Chev- rolet, with no identification. An FBI check proved he was released from Leavenworth Federal Pentitiary on October Oc-tober 10, 1967, after serving a 2-year term for Dyre Act violation. vi-olation. He had rented the car at Daytona Beach, F!a. for 1 day, and using a stolen Gulf Credit Card had traveled travel-ed to Arizona, back to New York City, and back through the West before being picked up at Crescent Junction uv the Utah Patrol. He had paid hundreds of dollars worth of travel expenses at motels and cafes and service stations with the credit card, and he admitted keeping keep-ing in cash by stealing TV's from motels and pawning them along the route. He was arrested at 4:15 p. m. January Jan-uary 16, 2 miles west of Crescent Cres-cent Junction. Another pair of Dyre Act violators were arrested by . Patrolman Bruce Black on January 11, 10 miles South of Crescent Junction. The pair, Christopher Allen, 21, and his wife, Nancy 18, of Zachary, La., were stopped for speeding speed-ing in a 1965 Corvette Stingray. Sting-ray. They were traveling on expired Los Angeles license plates, and could produce no proof of ownership for the car. n FBI check proved the car was stolen January 4, at Yuma, Arizona. Warrents for the arrest of both had been issued in Louisania, where law officers had searched their apartment and located stolen goods connecting them with 100 burglaries. The officers of-ficers hauled away 4 truck loads of stolen goods from the apartment, according to a report given Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ralph Benson. Owner of the car said an IBM typewriter, valued at $1,-000, $1,-000, was in the vehicle at the time it was stolen. The culprits cul-prits admitted selling the machine ma-chine in Long Beach for $285. They were turned over to the U. S. Marshall on October 18, and will be processed for Dyre Act violation in Salt Lake City. |
