Show Action on Beaver Pond Pondered by Commission A motion was made in County Commission meeting Monday to take legal action against the owner of the Span ish Valley Beaver Farm unless un-less a drainage situation, declared de-clared a health hazard, was rectified. Commissioner Fred Beyel-er Beyel-er made the motion, but it died for lack of a second. Instead In-stead the Commission agreed to meet with the State Health Officer Monday afternoon to seek a solution. The motion was inspired by a group of Spanish Valley residents who appeared at the Commission meet to complain com-plain about the farm, owned by William J. Jones. Runoff from the pond waters has caused concern, and last week county health officer, Dr. Paul Mayberry, was called call-ed upon for an inspection. ' Dr." Mayberry reported to the Commission, Monday, that from a health standpoint the situation constitutes a health hazard, and that some method of disposal, or other than that used now, will have to be employed. The Spanish Valley resi dents presented a petition demanding de-manding that the situation be remedied to the satisfaction of all concerned "as soon as possible." Commissioner Beyeler mov ed that the county building inspector in-spector be instructed to see that the hazard is corrected: otherwise the county attorney attorn-ey should be instructed to start proceedings. This motion mo-tion died for lack of a second. At regular Grand County I Commission meet Monday, Wesley Creed apeared to discuss dis-cuss the Book Cliff Road. He stated the Commission should condemn a right of way from Bill Cunningham, and route the proposed road down East Williw Creek to save construe tion costs. Doug Woods, of the Bureau . of Land Management, also ' met with the Commission to solicit the county's cooperation coopera-tion to get horses off the BLM range. |
