Show B.D.A.A FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp BDAA AT MAGNA TONIGHT The two low teams on the Industrial totem pole, Bingham and Magna, will battle each other oth-er again tonight at Magna at 8:15 p.m. Bingham came from behind last Friday at Copperton, to defeat de-feat the Millmen 9 to 7, and will be trying to do it again tonight. Magna took an early 7 to 0 lead over the locals, only to see a five run uprising in the sixth, and another four run blast in the eighth stanza spell their defeat. K. Poulscn relieved Sluga in the fourth canto, and turned in a fine chore, limiting the Mill-men Mill-men to two sin'gles and striking out the last batter with two men on base. LOSE TO FORKERS The locals dropped a 9 to 2 decision de-cision to league leading American Ameri-can Fork, Wednesday night, in a game that could have been a great deal closer. The BDAA swatsmiths pounded Woodbury, A. F. chucker hard and often but unfortunately right into a waiting wait-ing pair of hands. Sluga, Bingham Bing-ham pitcher, bounced a scream-double scream-double off the center-field wall, and third sacker Wegkamp lined lin-ed a terrific drive past the left fielder that bounced over the fence and held him to a ground rule double, with Keller on base. Babcock hit a bullet single past Owens at first, to drive in Keller and Wegkamp, for the locals' only scores. At Magna tonight, Manager Wilson will start either Cal Crump or Lefty DeCol on the mound. Crump hurled Bingham to its' first win last week, over the Helper Merchants, and De-Col De-Col is showing better form at each workout. Lefty relieved Sluga at American Fork and whiffed the last hitter, with the sacks loaded. "PEACHES" HERE SUNDAY Bingham will play host to the Brigham City nine at Copperton, Sunday, June 17, in an 8:15 night game. Thursday, June 21, Bingham Bing-ham plays at Provo, and Sunday, Sun-day, June 24, the locals play American Fork at Copperton in a postponed game. SOFTBALL SLANTS Looks like a pretty even battle in the '51 softball chase, as the four teams fight for the early season lead. Last Thursday, Highland Boy defeated the strong Princess Theatre nine, 7 to 5 in a good, close game, as Gemmell Club outslugged Copper King-Emeralds King-Emeralds 11 to 8. Tuesday night Princess and Gemmell battled right down to the wire, with Princess eking out all to 10 decision. Copper King-Emeralds' King-Emeralds' outlasted Highland Boy, in a combination softball game and track meet, 18 to 17. Thursday night, Copper King-Emeralds King-Emeralds meet Princess at 7:15, and Gemmell plays Highland Boy at 8:15 p.m. Next Tuesday, Gemmell club clashes with Copper Cop-per King, and Highland Boy meets the Princess nine. Nice Going Utes! Utah University won its first game in the national collegiate tourney at Omaha over Tennessee Tennes-see 7 to 1, behind the four hit pitching of Max Pesseto, former Helper Merchant chucker. Bingham Bing-ham is proud of the entire Utah team, especially the local boys that are helping the Utes to national na-tional baseball recognition. Mickey Culleton, Del Schick, Wayne Ray, Vic Stuckenschnei-der, Stuckenschnei-der, and Doug Furlong are all mainstays on the Utah squad, and we hope they come home with the N.C.A.A. championship.
