| Show OIL FLOW COMES FROM SAND AT ANALYSIS belief that crude was coming from foot horizon proved erroneous deep sand now thought to be one of great potentialities the oil winch for several weeks has been flowna up through the mud tiia out of ie casing head in the frank shafer no 1 discover we on cane creek dome does i ot come from the productive stid tums at 2028 feet and feet therefore it seems conclusive that the oil is coming from the bottom at feet where a flow of oil and gas was encounters two months ago and immediately put under control by mudding the hole A gallon sample of the oil now flowing from the well was sent to the utah oil refining companas comp anys plant for analysis last week by J L dougan superintendent of the utah southern oil company analysed in campanion cam with the oils obtained at 2028 and feet it gave a considerably different test and convinced utah oil refining chemists that it comes from an entirely new horizon the gravity of the oil and its initial boiling point shoie the oil to be basically different from the crude obtained at the upper horizons the analysis of the oil shows that it has a gravity of 40 4 degrees beaume initial to oiling point at degrees gasoline 27 to 31 per cent gas oil content 15 to 18 per cent kerosene 12 to 15 per cent hubn eating oil 20 per cent cylinder stock 20 per cent the oil has a heavy i paraffin content and is amber ir olor with a green cast since december 24 the shafer no 1 has been flowing a small stream of oil to the volume of two or three barrels daily the oil has been making through a hole full of heavy badum sulphate mud the ability of the oil to push up through this great w eight indicates a very favorable condition it had been by some oil roen that the oil was making from the stratum at feet but the analysis of the sample shows an al together different test from that made of the oil that was encountered at that depth it is therefore apparent that the flow of oil is coming framl the stratum on bottom at feet this stratum was tapped by afie drill on november 2 the tools being blown up the hole 1300 feet where they bridged efforts to recover the tools were unsuccessful and they were finally sidetracked A string of seamless 4 34 inch casing was ordered from the factory at lorrain ohio and was shipped last wednesday the casing should arrive by the last of the week and will be transported to the well it will be set above the productive stratum and a test of th horizon will then be made there is little doubt that the well can b placed on production as soon as it can be opened up in view of the sensational sat ional demonstrations the sand h made in the past and is still making the stratum has never been touched by the drill since november 2 when it blew in spraying oil to the top of the derrick |
