S Dr Paul Is to Salt Lake 1 i S 'S Salt lt Lake January 12 1916 E Editor Telegram m. m I Dear Sir The old ad adage ge of the survival of the tile fittest is fast slipping by and d' d in its stead is is' the man with the political drag In In my ny humble opinion Dr Paul is to Salt Lake City what resident President Wilson is IS t to tl the e United States But for the presidents president's cool head and broadmindedness where when would this country be today But for Dr Or Pauls Paul's efficiency and farsightedness in handling Salt Lakes Lake's health department on on a strictly business basis what conditions might exist here The past two years has seen S Salt lt Lakes Lake's health record climb N Not t that there has been no contagion here there has and lots of different kinds too But when anything started Dr Pauland Paul Pauland Pauland and his able assistants were Johnny on the spot Streets were cleaned alleys cleaned but best of all back yards too Nor did the health department stop on giving orders to clean cleanup up ip they followed their orders with visits and made sure that the cleaning was done Preparedness Preparedness that's that's the word How better can Salt Lake record than keeping Dr Paul I prepare to retain her healthy by I ii H. Paul as health commissioner Knowing Dr Paul for many years I feel at liberty to say that the newspaper newspaper news news- paper notoriety given the matter is is very obnoxious to him and as he Is a manof manof man manof of high principles it w would uld not be he at all surprising to see him settle the matter matter matter mat mat- ter for the commissioners by resigning In disgust This should not be permitted d and for the good of the city I urge every indorsing Dr Paul and do doit doit citizen to sign one of THE TELEGRAM coupons it now In In comparing Dr Paul with Dr Stewart his proposed successor there is little to choose between them as citizens gentlemen or Each stands high in the community and either would make personal sacrifice In giving up his private practice to serve the city However Dr Paul has this advantage he comes from a medical college that er s n nc er and more modern teachings In la the field of ot microscopy bac bacteriology r and diagnosis he be is la head and I shoulders above the average jan and andis is especially fitted for his position I Furthermore his experience during his incumbency makes him more valuable to the city than an any other physician Again he has surrounded surround d himself with withas as unusually competent two at least of which could fill this position better tetter than any other any other physician save Dr Paul himself He has been on the job all the time He has inaugurated reforms and established es innovations at trifling expense to the city and from which the city has derived untold benefit i We Ve owe our pure water low death rate and high nigh standard of ot purity in our milk supply to Dr Pauls Paul's ability and alertness It is not a question of r rewarding Dr Paul nor of overlooking the ability of Dr Stewart Stewarts It is simply a question of retaining retaining- the advantages we now possess as a community an and and l demanding that our health beaith department be not allowed to deteriorate by the removal of the most competent official the city has ever had The way to get what you want is to ask for tor it Use THE TELEGRAM coupon and serve notice on the city commissioners commissioner that the people want what they want when they want it IL M.
