Show BINGHAM NINE COP DIVISION CROWN Bingham high school captured the southern division region two baseball championship Wednesday Wednes-day by defeating Judge Memorial 9-3, in a tie playoff. The Miners will now meet Cyprus, northern division winner, for the region title. Judge, on a home run by Milan Stimatz, took the initial lead in the second inning. Bingham took over in the third when Warren Sumnicht walked, Johnny Gara-hana Gara-hana and Don Gust doubled for two runs. Bingham added three more in the fifth on a walk, on a triple by Dick Jenkins and a homer by Gust. Judge picked up two in the eighth and then the Miners iced the game with four in the ninth on four hits and an error-one error-one of the hits was a round tripper trip-per by Ed Gaythwiate. Winner of two out of three games between Bingham and Cyprus, southern and northern winners respectively, will determine deter-mine the region champion. First game of this series was played yesterday (Thursday) at 4 p.m. at Bingham. The second game will be played Monday, May 2 at Magna at 3 p.m. |
