Show SISTER ACCUSES BUT CASE FALLS THROUGH May White, known to the police aa a drug user, waa arrested by Detsctlv Captain Cap-tain Beckstead laat night on charge of receiving stolen property. The arrest was made on Information given by her slater, who lives In Ogden and who eatd that the local woman had received a cold necklace which harl been stolen from the home of H. P. Evans, 671 West First South street, a little more than two years ago. The prisoner's sister said that the necklace would he found concealed In a pasteboard box beneath the stairway of a room In house where May White had lived. The police Investigated and learned that the local woman had never lived In the rooming- house deslgsnted. The description of the Jewelry tallied, however, how-ever, with some stolen from the Evans home In lJHtt. The local woman was questioned closely by the poll re, but was re leaned when she demonstrated that her sister had either made a serious mistake or had endeavored endeav-ored to willfully wrong her. The Ogden police hav been asked to learn what the Ogden woman knows of the stolen jewelry. In view of t he fact thats he gave such a good description of one of the stolen articles. The Ogden woman la said to be a user of drugs. |
