Show HEAVY DAMAGES AWARDED AGAINST TOBACCO TRUST B A LEIGH, N. C, July 14. After being be-ing out sines Wednesday the jury ia tha ease of Ware-Kramer Tobacco company of Norolk, Va.. against the American Tobacco company, aad Wells-Whitehead Tobacco company, returned a verdict late yesterday in favor of tba plaintiff, allowing $20,000 damagea. The Ware Kramer company bad asked for $1,200,000 damagea, under the antitrust anti-trust law, claiming tbeir business had beea ruined by tbe unfair methods of tbe tobacco trust." Damages being allowed oa three, counts really amounts to $rt 0,00. Judge Connor in the federal court fixed the feea of plaintiff's counsel at $10,000, making tbe total judgment J70,-000 J70,-000 and costs. Tbe defendsuts made a motion to appeal to tbe circuit court, which was allowed, bonds were fixed at $80,000. |
