"Heinle" Spencer, the "daddy" of Bait Laks's outflowing brigade, waa the laurel crowned hero of yesterday's encounter en-counter between the senators and skyscrapers sky-scrapers at Cooley park, and "Heinle" had it coming. Several other league clubs "came from behind" yesterday, according to press reports, but none of them bad a thing on what the local aggregation ag-gregation pulled off, or rather what "Uelnie" Spencer uncovered, and there wasn't any big league scout watching "Heinle" either. ith two flnwn in the ninth inning, two men on bases, two striken on him, and needing two runs to win. Byrd put one in the "groove" for Salt Lake's great little left gardener and the ball msv be going vet; no one went, out to look for it, nt teat. Halt Lake had "eome from !iehin!" and pulled out of the fire a game which looked hopelessly hope-lessly lost, the final score being 4 to 3. Never have Snit Lake fans seen a more glorious finish thnn this one. I'ntil the seventh inning, the score read 1 to 0 for 8a It Lake. The locals had gerilenered one on a hit bv Fortier, an error bv the visiting catcher and a single l,y Orr. Thus things went pleasantly pleas-antly until the seventh, when some-thinff some-thinff haltnened. Helena scored three In thi period. Kelly and Irby singled in rnpul succession, and then Murray doubled. scoring Kelly. ' Killilay popped out to Blankenstiin. Zwicker hit to Pendleton, who made a grand stop snd return to the plate to catch V Irby, but Perkins dropped the ball. Zwirker was caught between first and agf second, but in the relay of thrown Blankenship missed a bad bonnoe and Murray scored. The next two men were easy outs. Scliimpff pitched the last two innings for the locale and did it up brown, holding Helena safe without any trouble trou-ble whatsoever. Things looked had for Halt Lake in the next three frames. They hit the ball hard, hut it was always right at eome opposing fielder. In the ninth - chances looked to have gone glimmer ing. Orr flew out to center, but Dick Devereaux found one on the nose and sent it to the center field bosrds for two sacks. All hops appeared to vanish van-ish when Pendleton struck out. Perkins Per-kins then hit a high fly toward the right field line. Irbv-tore after it. but dropped it, and Devereaux scored. Brhimpff came through with a beautiful little single, Perkins going to third. Schimpff stole second a moment later. "Heinie" Spencer was up next, but half of the crowd had gone home. The umps called one on Spencer and he missed another. Two strikes were on him, and after considerable delay Byrd gave him the third one. Spencer swung hard and lifted it .lust high enough so that it cleared the score board in right and went out f sight, while Perkins and Srhimpff acampered across with the need runs. Tt was some finish and the "bugs" who were left climbed the screens, threw their hsts into' the air and "acted "act-ed inst swful. " Hummel snd Bryan will likely be the opposing pitchere today.
