Show HORSES KILLED IN GAS EXPLOSION TTLSA. Okla., Julv 15. A gne explosion ex-plosion on the Iavld Hhipman farm, several miles south of here, today tore np earth fur twenty acres, injuring one man severely, killing five horses and demolishing a' large amount of valuable valua-ble machinery. The explosion was preceded pre-ceded by a rumbling noise resembling an earthquake. There was a mighty concussion and then the earth gave way. Charles Kecd jumped from a height of forty feet and waa badly hurt. The horses were a eonsidernhle distance dis-tance from the place where the explo sion flrst broke, but thev had no time to get awav before the earth broke under un-der them and the gas burst forth. It is thought that gas gathered near the top of an oil well that was being dug on the land and forced oiu the sixty feet of overlying earth. |
