Show ELKS AS HOSTS OF 0RPHANS Plan Big Time for Youngsters Young-sters on "Purple Day Jane 22 Next Tb' local InAgeot Klks has designated June as Klks' purple .day. when all of theorphan in the various children's institutions of the city will be given tWir great annual treat. Xhe purple day festivities will be launched on the afternoon of June 21. when every child inmate of an institution institu-tion in this city will be taken on a glorious automobile ride through the citv. The joy ride will begin at 5 o'clock and will continue for two and one half hours. This will only he an appetizer for the treats that will be in store for them the following dav. As earlv on the morning of June 22 as is convenient for the children they will be taken in street cars to Liberty park, where thev will he given a bounteous dinner, which will include alt the eatrdT, num. Ire Tresm, oranges and other delicacies peculiar to children a tastes. The remainder of the afternoon will be given over to sports and games, which the Elks and their wives will supervise, and in which thev will participate. The afternoon's sport will conclude at 5 o'clock, when the youngsters will be taken to their homes. 1 Dr. 8. The general committee; comprising com-prising M. M. Warner, chairman, and Walter G. Sehmirer and Edwin E. Haw-ley, Haw-ley, will name subcommittees on transportation, trans-portation, amusements, contributions, dinner and such other committees as may be required to make of the affair a great success. Gov. William 8pry and A. C. Jtfelaon, state superintendent of public instruction; instruc-tion; will be invited to deliver addresses at Liberty park for the children during the afternoon. |
