PYORRHEA The most dreaded disease of the dental den-tal profession is alveolar pyorrhea, commonly com-monly known as Kiggs' disease. Pyorrhea Pyor-rhea simply means a discharge of pus, or suppuration, and alveolar pyorrhea, naturally, means a discharge of pus from the alveolus. It, usually begins with an uneasy sensation sen-sation in the gums and teeth, which soon becomes painful. In the early stages of the, disease the margin of the gums presents decided inflammatory action ac-tion and bleed copiously from slight causes. As the disease progresses the inflammation extends deeper into the substance of the gum, which becomes greatly congested with venous blood, swollen, and exhibits a tendency to separate from the necks of the teeth, which give rise to the formation of small sacs filled with pus. The gums fall away, and in consequence the teeth i become loose and change their positions. posi-tions. There is frequently a separation and protrusion of the superior and inferior in-ferior front teeth, with a thick, fetid discharge about their necks, which cause a disagreeable taste and very offensive breath. The gum at this stage Satisfaction In Your Clothes Is principally a matter of confidence, confidence in their tone, their fit, their grace and their appropriateness; confidence that the man who makes them knows his business. At an extreme stage of the disease, complete destruction of the alveoli and of a considerable portion of the gum occurs, and the tooth are held in place by a tough, ligamentous attachment, which was formerly the peridental membrane. The roots of the teeth' become be-come coated with a layer of calculus, the gums continue to recede, and the fall of the entire dental structure is threatened. The cause of this disease is local, such as irritants in the nature of salivary sali-vary and sanguinary calculus. The profession pro-fession is divided in its opinion as to the exact origin of the disease, but my experience leads me to believe that it is local,, because when the local manifestations mani-festations are proprly removed the disease dis-ease disappears. This is the disease, as has been said, which dentists upon the whole have given up as incurable, and yet I claim to be able to cure it. We have cases of pyorrhea at my office every day. It is a much more common disease than you would think. The majority of people peo-ple who are wearing sets of false teeth today started in with pyorrhea. Had they known of me they could have saved their teth, cured the gums and thns avoided an artificial plate. We can refer you to hundreds of Denver people whom we have cured of pyorrhea (Riggs' disease), loose teeth, who came to us because their dentists could nrtt cure them, and hundreds of people for whom we have put in partial or full sets of alveolar teeth teeth without plates within the year. Most of these people are well known and do not object to our referring to them. They are proud of the work, but might object to our publishing their names.
