Show THOSE SIXTY-MILE BOATS. And now a British naval constructor, who has been visiting the exhibition of the performances of the auto-boats at Monte Carlo, predicts that boat will be built to travel much faster than sixty miles an hour in the near future. If that gets to be the case, the rage for railroads will pass by in our country, and the insistence will be for the canal, for certainly it is pleasanter riding in a boat than it is 'on a train. - This gentleman who believes in sixty-knot boats is a Mr. Saunders, a boat constructor of Cowes. and he thinks very much depends upon the propeller, so much so that he makes his own propellers. He thinks the tendency is to lessen the size of the propeller, pro-peller, and to increase the actual - service of the blades, which is now very great, but he does not think that it is as yet nearly perfected. . y |
