Show NAMED HER ON HIS DEATH BED ' j . . Mrs. Annie Besant, Prophetess Prophet-ess and Seer, to Succeed Olcott , as : Head of the Theosophists. KANSAS CITY, April 13. An official offi-cial announcement was received In this city today by. a member of the local branch of the society of the nomination nomina-tion of Mrs. Annie Besant of Adyr, India, In-dia, as world president of the Theo-sophical Theo-sophical society, to succeed the late Col. Henry Steele Olcott, the president-founder president-founder of the organization. Col. Olcott, who was an old New York newspaper man and a veteran of the Civil war, died recently following his return to India from Chicago, where he had attended the annual convention con-vention of the American section. The official announcement . states that on his deathbed he formally named Mrs. Besant, who for vears had been his coworker, to succeed him by the prerogative that he held. The nomination must be , ratified by a two-thirds two-thirds vote of the societies of the world. The vote is soon to be taken, Mrs. Besant is coming to America in June. - She is a noted writer and lecturer. lec-turer. - |
