Adopts Sectional System For National Public Links Trials NEW YORK, May IS (AP)The United States Golf association associa-tion has adopted a sectional qualifying system for tha national public pub-lic links championship similar to those of tha open and amateur tournaments, it wss announced today. Austin, Tsxas: Phoenix. Aria.: Le Angel, Saa Francisee, Portland, Or.; Seattle, Spokane, Wash, and Honolulu. Qualifying place will be assigned te each district oa th basi ef th number and playing. strength of th entries. They will qualify approximately 200 player for th championship proper at Baltimore July 24-29, entries for which close July 13. In previous years an unlimited number of qualifying round were allowed and from each location a i team of four waa permitted to go f to the championship. Under ths new system konafids resident of a city or Its suburbs are eligible for a team, consisting of ths three low ecorere in th district round, to compete for th team championship. Former champions, whe are exempt from th district qualifying, must compete te establish estab-lish thsir eligibility for th team. This will not offset th automatic ligibility for th championship.
