Show PORTLAND PORT REOPENS TODAY PORTLAND, Ore, May H (UP) Federal Arbitrator Wayne L. Moras today ruled the loeal watam front Employers' association violated violat-ed its union contract with longshoremen long-shoremen in closing the port of Portland and ordered them to reopen re-open the harbor to shipping by 1 p. m. Employers immediately agreed to abide by the ruling, presented orally, oral-ly, and the port will be opened this afternoon after a closure of five days. Simultaneously both the employers employ-ers and representatives of the International Inter-national Longshoremen's snd Warehousemen's Ware-housemen's union (C I O) will meet with Mors while he decides whether the original dispute over the freighter William Luckenbach comes under his jurisdiction as a coastwise arbitrator. It was the longshoremen's refusal to work ths Luckenbach that prompted ths employers voluntarily, to close ths port last Thursday, |
