Show PROVO ADOPTS "tlBRARTPtAHS PROVO Recommendations for purchase of furniture for the new Provo city library and acceptance of an offer for tha creation of an art center at tha building Tuesday had featured action by Provo vity commission here, following meeting meet-ing with the library board. The art center, to be located In the library lecture room, would be a branch of the state art project, according to E. J. Bird of Salt Lake City, stats director of the federal art project, who explained the offer of-fer to commissioners and board members. If provided with a room, light and heat, the federal agency will provide pro-vide exhibition materials and a staff to take care of the rooms, and participate in the lectures, mu-sicalea, mu-sicalea, exhibitions and other activities, ac-tivities, hs aaid, Local artists would also exhibit at the center, and use of the room would be encouraged for other community activities. - Recommendation " to the etrj commission for the purchase ol furniture were made as follows: 14 tables from tha Salt Lake Cabinet Cab-inet and Fixture company, at a total cost of $9JJ; 40 armless and 3ft arm chairs from the Utah School Supply at a total cost of $3s: K . folding chairs from Dixon, Taylor Russell company of Provo at a total cost of 12J.S0; and refinlshlng ol 1 old library furniture Including K chairs, 13 tablea and aeveral filei and cabinets, by the Dixon, Taylor Russell company . at a cost ol 1322.05. As other Items require some technical tech-nical checking, Mrs. Maline S Bandley, librarian, and Fred L Mark ham, architect, were empowered em-powered to select other items ol furniture, including cabinets, files Juvenile chairs and newspapsr fill holders and rest room furniture, ac 1 that they may conform with thai already possessed by the library. |
