Show Young People's Orchestra Gives Concert Before an enthusiastic audience of more than 300 persons the Young People's Symphony orchestra orches-tra of Salt Lake City Monday evening eve-ning held a concert in the Granite take L. D. S. tabernacle, 1989 Ninth East street. Sponsored by the National Institute Insti-tute of Music and Arts, the program, pro-gram, consisting of 19 numbers, was under direction of C. Adolph Swen sen, teacher and conductor. Featured Players Florence C Hummel and Alice Swensen entertained with a piano duet, Wallace L. Martin and Robert Banck with a violin duet., while a trumpet number featured Donald Zimmerman, Eugene Jesperson and Joe Baker. Accompanied by the guitar sn-semble. sn-semble. Irene Meier, Betty Anderson, Ander-son, Jsnice Jespersen, Doris Winter Win-ter and Dolores Chapman played electric guitar solos, whils Joseph W. Bertram, Connie Olson and Gloria Glo-ria Teakle were featured in violin solo numbers. A string ensemble group, consisting consist-ing of Wendell Winegsr. Edwsrd Tout, Beverly Anderson, Grace Butler, But-ler, La Verne Richardson and Dawn Stevens, played "Souvenir." Numbers Listed Numbers featuring the entire orchestra or-chestra were "Junior Musicians' March." "Danube Waves Walts," "March of ths Gnomes," "Hungarian "Hungar-ian Dance Number Five," "At Sundown" Sun-down" and "Treasure Island March." H. A. Knotts of Los Angeles, supervisor su-pervisor of enrollment of the National Na-tional Institute of Musle and Arts, told of a forthcoming concert to be held June 25 at the Golden Gate International - exposition at San Francisco, Cal., In which ths Young People's Symphony orchestra orches-tra will participate. |
