Show Capitol Film Of South Sea Wins-Acclaim- The Robert Louis Stevenson atory. "Ebb Tide," enhanced by color and starring Frances Farmer, Ray Mil-land Mil-land and Oscar Homolka, opened at the Capitol theater Thursday to the plaudits of packed holiday houses. The color catches the languorous beauty of the southern islands and provides a sharp contrast for the stirring adventures of the story. Milland, as a young English drift er: Homolka, a discredited ship's captain, and Barry Fitzgerald, a cockney drifter, get their chance to "get off the beach" when a schooner flying the yellow flag of contagious disease puts into port. Typhoon Depicted Miss Farmer has a spirited part as the daughter of the dead ship's captain. She opposes Homolka when he attempts to take the ship to South America, rather than to its original destination, Australia. A raging typhoon and a madman who has established his own kingdom king-dom on an uncharted island lend additional drama to the production. Lloyd Nolan portrays the insane island is-land king. Comedy Pleases Also pn the new Oapltul theater program is "Mr. Boggs Steps Out." an amusing story about a hardworking hard-working small town youth, Stuart Erwin, who wins $1900 in a movie bean contest. |
