Keyes. have been married mar-ried nearly a half -century and have lived continuously for 40 years In Speaking of railroads, Mr, Keyes recalled the days of ths coupling pin, the "dinkies." when IS cars waa an extra large train and when 25 miles an hour was considered "fast" He spent more than tf years railroading. a Salt Lake City hotel room. Married in Texas, the young couple cou-ple came to Salt Lake City 40 years ago, took a room at the Cullen hotel ho-tel and have never moved out. The white haired couple have watched with enthusiasm the growth of the city. On Christmas eve they will be the guests of honor at a party to be given for hotel employes and their families and guests. Both ars active In fraternal work. Mrs. Keyes is a past grand matron of Utah. Order of Eastern Star, and a Ufa member of Mispah chapter chap-ter No. 5. Mr. Keyes, a retired railroad rail-road man, is a member of Argents lodge No. 1. a life member of the Shrine and a member of the Scottish Scot-tish Rita and Knights Templar. Many foreignera, now American citizens, remember when Mrs. Keyes was naturalisation deputy for this district. They are among the oldest subscribers sub-scribers of Tha Salt Laka Telegram-Tribune. |
