Show THIEF ELUDES HIS PURSUERS Tourist Finds Money Tossed Aside A youthful burglar, who fooled his victims and stunned a pursuer with a rock, escaped on foot after an automobile chase of several blocks Thursday. When two attendants at a Utah Oil company station at Twenty-first Twenty-first South and Bute streets, working work-ing outside, heard the cash register ring, they saw the youth walk away from the station. One attendant, Douglas warden. 21, of 1778 Eighth East street, called the youth back, but when the latter offered to be searched, Wardell let him go. A tourist then gave Wardell two $10 bills he said he saw the youth drop outside the station when called back. The other attendant. Bill Bengt-ten, Bengt-ten, 17, of 28 West Hartwell avenue, ave-nue, gave chase In a car and saw th youth run into a back yard at 151 Utopia avenue. Bengtsen enlisted en-listed help of Jim Turnbull, IT, who live at that address, and Turnbull tackled th fugitive. The thief struck Turnbull with a rock and fled. Turnbull and Bengtsen reaumed th chas In th car, finally losing the youth at Twenty-seventh South and Ninth East street after he dodged through alleys and climbed fences. ' The thief was described aa about 21 years old and neatly dressed. |
