Show City Bans Playmate For Alice Without even the courteous gesture of consulting her, the city commission Thursday denied Princess Alice the opportunity of having a playmate out at the Hogle Gardens xoo. B. Erwin an offer to donate an elephant to be a sister and constant companion com-panion to Princess Alice. The other elephant waa to be free. To be sure, she waa no longer fit for circus work, but she wss to be fre anyway. Mayor Erwin pondered the queation. then asked the. other commissioner about It. Whil they thought it would be a fin thing if Prince Alic could have a Utile friend to ease her loneliness, loneli-ness, the" commissioner recalled that Alice was a pretty heavy eater and decided this circus beast might be afflicted likewise.
