Show i Bred at Parking Charges; Legislator Hints Action A threat to frame laws to oust parking meters from Utah unless legislators receive special consideration on parking in Salt Lake City was received at the office of Mayor Ab Jenkins Wednesday from legislator, attaches at-taches of the mayor's office announced. State Senator Charles W. Spence (D., Salt Lake) was quoted as saying in a telephone call that unless the mayor or the public safety department provided for exemption for legislators legis-lators from parking meter fee, "We'll get up a bill to have the meters thrown out of every city in Utah.'' Police Chief Reed E. Vetterli Indicated that officers would have difficulty knowing which ears belonged to legislators, but that the department was prepared to make - amends. "We aren't going to try to make mind readers out of our officers in enforcing this law," he said. "If legislators' ears are tagged and the law does exempt such cars from this type of offense, they'll be promptly excused on mailing the tags to my office." |
