Show Windsor Yacht j Survives Gale NASSAU, Bahamas, Jan. 15 (UP) The yacht Rene, carry- Ing the Duke and Duchess of Windsor on an Inspection tour of the Bahamas, reported by ra- dio Wednesday that it was safely 1 riding out stormy seas In which three persons had drowned off Nassau. The yacht, owned by Alfred P. Sloan Jr., of New York, chairman of the board of General Motors corporation, was forced to anchor off Whale cay late Tuesday when a heavy ground swell made landing land-ing impossible. The duke's aide. Captain Vyvyan Drury, reported report-ed the yacht was In no danger. The storm's casualties here occurred oc-curred Tuesday morning when a boat bearing two men, two women wom-en and two babies wa overturned over-turned by huge waves breaking over a reef off the western approach ap-proach to the Nassau harbor. The babies were in the cabin of the boat, which sank. The adult were picked up by a mo-tnrboat mo-tnrboat from the estate of Mrs. James Ayer of New York, but j one of the women died later. |
