Show Building Boom Tops '48 Peak "The buildinj boom in Salt Lke -City increased 1U tempo Um first , I half of thu year aa It broke last year's all-time record for the same period, it was disclosed in a report issued Saturday by the office of William Y. Tipton, superintendent, bureau of mechanical inspection. Home building reached an unprecedented un-precedented level, with a total of 96? building permits issued during dur-ing the period at an estimated construction con-struction value of $7,646,141. Residential Resi-dential remodeling accounted for 353 permits. While commercial building and remodeling fell off slightly in the number of permits issued, the estimated es-timated construction value showed a corresponding increase. ( Commercial Com-mercial construction permits numbered num-bered 393 at an estimated value of $2,452,880. Last year's figures for the period are 419 permits and $2,161,076 tn value. In the first six months of 1948 a total of 1146 permits were granted by the city for residential construction valued at $5,088,058. |
