Show Hundreds Enter Skating Classic OCONOMOWOC, Wis., Jan. 25 m Entries received by William Kritter. president ot the Wisconsin Skating sssociation, assure a record field of 260 or more contestants in the national na-tional speed skating championships to be held at Fowler lake, near here, Saturday and Sunday. National champions will be decided only in the men's, women's senior divisions, although races for intermediate, inter-mediate, Junior and Juvenile contestants con-testants also will be held. The nine statea represented in the entries already received, Kritter said, are Michigan, Minnesota, Utah, California, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, New York and Wisconsin. Mora than a score of skaters are training here for the meet The ice on Fowler lake was reported report-ed in good condition despite mild weather. Officials of tha meet aaid it waa unlikely that ice conditions would change enough to make a postponement post-ponement necessary. Jimmy Webster, St Psul, Minn., winner of the national men's championship cham-pionship last year, will defend his title, but Helen Bina. Chicago, has accepted an invitation to compete in Europe and will not defend her title of women's champion won here last year. |
