Show RESTRICTIONS PLACED ON HANDLING MATCHES New York Proposes Stringent Regulations for Storage Stor-age an4 Sale of "Fuses." ' NEW YORK, Jan. 8. The municipal explosive commission hat tent to Mayor Low for bis approval the regulations which they propose for governing the sale and use of matches In this city. The Mayor will give a public hearing on them on January 14th. The commission proposes a license fee of 150 'for the sale at wholesale of matches by firms or persons owning private brands, and the granting grant-ing to retailers and others by the fire commission of a permit on the payment of a fee of $1000 for the storage and sale of matches. It Is stipulated that a retail store may carry uceen matchmen's gross, or approximately fifty gross of boxes, which hold 100 matches or less; that a wholesale dealer may carry 3500 gross, snd the manufacturer or his agent 250,000 gross. The last named must store his goods in a brick building. Other regulations proposed are the use of strong boxes and stems, the abolishment of the "fuse" match and the prohibition of the sale to children under 10 years of age.
