Afriough the people of Arizona are greatly fearing a spread of the bubonic plague from Mexico into their Territory, Terri-tory, local physicians have no apprehension appre-hension of its coming into Utah. In the first place Utah is not in close communication with Arizona, there being be-ing no railway connections, and secondly, sec-ondly, the sanitary conditions here aro such as to militate against the infection. infec-tion. . Dr. Beatty's Position. . Dr. T.'M. Beatty,' president of the Btate Board of Health, said: . . 'While the people of Arizona have J rcery reason to take precaution against yf the bubonic plague, which might bo f communicated to them from ships coming com-ing from ports on the Mexican coast, there Is no call for the people of this State to feel any alarm, or for the health officers to take any action in the matter, as yet. "The disease is not particularly contagious con-tagious in this climate, and there is scarcely any chance of its reaching Utah even though it should break out in parts of Arizona. It is for the people peo-ple there to take the necessary steps toward keeping it out of the United , -States." Hague in Calif ore la. Dr. Eeatty says it is the opinion of many physicians that tho plague is present in California nearly always, but that it doesn't spread inland. City Physician King . declares this city need have no fear of a spread of the plague from that source and that .the health authorities at tho point of contact between Arizona and Mexico ; will be able to prevent its advent into the United States.
