Show BISHOP SPALDING SHOWS IMPROVEMENT PEORIA, 111, Jan. 9. There was a noticeable improvement last night in the condition of Bishop J. L. Spalding, the Catholic prelate, who was suddenly stricken with paralysis at his residence Friday afternoon. He has regained somewhat the use of his left arm and speaks with more freedom. The remainder re-mainder of the left side of his body he is unable to use at alL Doctors Spalding and Slavln. the attending at-tending physicians, who have been with the Bishop constantly since the attack, reported last night that they believed bis condition was better than on the previous day. They speak in a hopeful tone, but ere watching the patient closely for any slgnbf a set back, which they admit would portend the most serious results. |
