Show REDUCTION-: . OF AMOUNT Supreme Ccurt of New York Cuts Dawn Damage Dam-age Award. NEW YORK, April 10. The Appellate Appel-late division of the Supreme court has handed down a decision reversing the judgment of the lower court in the case of Christine N. Hinsdale, as executrtx of the will of Edward I. Hinsdale, against the New York Central & Hudson Hud-son River railroad. The plaintiff obtained ob-tained a verdict of $40,000 against the railroad for the death & Mr. Hinsdale in the collision In the Park Avenue tunnel tun-nel on January 8, 1902. Mrs. Hinsdale sought to recover on the basis of the fact that Sir. Hinsdale was earning about 15000 a year, and that the "expectation of life" of a man at his age was 19.60 years. The court declares that this Is not a fair basis of award. |
