Show VALEDICTORIANS ARE SELECTED Miss Nellie Ooss and Fred D. Worltoxx "Will Bepresent Classes at . of ' XT. Commencement. The University faculty met last night and selected Miss Nellie Goss and Fred D. Worlton to represent their classes as valedictorians val-edictorians at the commencement exercises, exer-cises, which will be held In the Salt Lake Theater during the first week of June. These students were recommended by Profs. Stewart Merrill and Marshall. Miss Gobs will graduate from the Arts course this year with a degree of B. A. and will represent the college studentsjtt the commencement. She Is a graduate ot the Salt Lake high school class of 1900, aad Is at present Instructor of mechanical drawing in that Institution. She has considerable con-siderable artistic ability and has been an Interesting and valuable contributor to the Chronicle. Last year she was ohosen as editor-in-chief of the college paper, but resigned because of pressure of school work. Mr. Worlton will be the representative of the normal class, of which he has been president for the two years last past and for two years has won the M. L oratorical contest in the Alpine stake. At the faculty meeting Profs. Talmage and Toronto were chosen to select some creditable and worthy student to receive the $-t interest coming this year from the Heber J. Grant normal scholarship. The interest on the alumni scholarship, about $35, will be given to some normal student to be named by Profs. Stewart and Toronto To-ronto and Senator Rawlins. Prof. Bennlon, Principal McKnlght and Miss May were appointed a committee to arrange for the reception to be tendered the graduates during the commencement week. I Attorney Frank Pierce' of the Board of Regents began his series of lectures on mining law to the senior and junior engineers engi-neers yesterday afternoon. There will be six lectures in the series. |
