Show NEARLY THOUSAND SIGNATURES TO PETTITION SECURED A committee of fifteen men, divided into five sub-committees of three men each, has been appointed to circulate the protest adopted by a mass meeting of citizens a few nights ago, against the statements made by President Jo-' seph F. Smith of the Mormon church before the Senate' Committee, on Privileges Priv-ileges and Elections, la which he said 4 . that the people of Utah condoned his offenses.' Thees sub-committees are as follows: First Precinct W. J. Meeks, Sam Hamel and Arthur Brown, Jr. " v Second Precinct J. N. Courtney, S. D. Chase and N. B. Corser. .' Third Precinct George' Hancock.' H. C Lawrence and R. B. Hlldebrand. . - - Fourth Precinct R. S. Rivers, H. W: Brown and Wlllard Hansen. Fifth Precinct-Judge McDowell, F. E, McGurrlri and W. F. Earls.. This committee will meet at 5 o'clock tonight at Its permanent : committee headquarters, room 27, 15 West Second South street, to get its lists into shape and to prepare the protests so . they can be taken out for signatures. ; Arrangements will also be made for places in each precinct where protests can be' left for signatures. Nearly 1000 signatures have been secured on the protests. The committee on organisation reports re-ports good progress and will make its final report at the meeting to be held In Bamberger hall next Monday night. i . . |
