Show "THE TRAGIC IDEAL," BY PROFESSOR CLARK A highly Interesting lecture on "The Tragic Ideal" was given by Prof. S. H. Clark of Chicago University last evening. ' Prof. Clark said that literature was a social so-cial study rather than an aesthetic subject or a means of recreation. The tragedy teaches us the power of man's soul over circumstances, whereas the typical novel rather - aims to please than to tell the truth about life. "Julius Caesar" will be given for the benefit of the school children next Thursday Thurs-day afternoon. Prof. Clark spoke briefly to the University students this morning on the value of the national oratorical contest |
