Show JANKUBELIK IS JOBBED Hatred Between Germans and Czechs Manifested in Riotous Manner. VIENNA, March 16 German-Czech race hatred led to a serious riot at Ling, the capital of East Austria yesterday where a mob of Infuriated Germans In revenge for the Ill-treatment of their con patriots at Prague, stormed the hall In which Jan Kubelik. the Bohemian violinist, was giving giv-ing a concert, compelling Kubelik to seek safety In flight The manager bad been warned to cancel the engagement but he declined to do so. Before the doors were opened the mob I attacked tha rarrla-a of tha District Gov- ernor, Count Wlckenburg, with stones and the police had difficulty in protecting the' Count from personal injury. While the concert waa in progress a howling mob outside the hall made the music inaudible. Borne officers came out of the hall and reproached the mob for such disturbances The mob then forced the police cordon. Invaded In-vaded the hall, smashed the decorative mirrors and threw missiles at Kubelik. The concert was then stopped and the audience dispersed amidst a fire of offensive offen-sive epithets. The demonstrations were continued outside out-side the hotel where Kubelik was staying and the police, aided by the Mayor, bad some difficulty in dispersing the mob. |
