Show CONREID TO MANAGE IT Successor Chosen by the Metropolitan Directors From Many Applicants. NEW YORK. Feb. 14. At a meeting of the Metropolitan directors held yesterday yes-terday the various applicants for Mr. Grau's position as impresario were heard, their plans listened to and their "hacking" inquired into. Finally a vote was taken to, resulting in the decision to give a live years' contract for the operatic control of the house to Mr. Helnrlch Conreld, manager of the Irving Irv-ing Place theater. Applications for the position were received re-ceived from all quarters, from Chicago to New Orleans-and Boston to San Francisco, but the battle for the prize finally narrowed itself down to Helnrlch Heln-rlch Conreld.
