Show NOVELTY IN VALENTINES. - ' ' New York Sun. One line of valentines put out this year has the merit at least of novelty. The verses or sentiments are printed on esrds about 4x3 inches, to which are attached also objects of some sort illustrative of or built into the text. For example, here is one in which a match attached to the card stands for the word match: To my Valentine, I'm your (match here) Find me if you can. Another valentine in this line has attached at-tached to it a miniature pickax, so that the pick part of it comes Immediately next to the word "my" In the valentine, standing there for the word "pick:" To my Valentine, Of all this world You are my (pickax here) . ,. v And for love of you I'm almost sick. In another of these valentines a cork attached takes the place of part of a word the printed part being the syllable "er" the wor pronounced being corker; somebody is "a corker." There Is one -of these emblem valentines that has attached to it a tiny frying pan; the frying pan being not built In, but sort of giving point to the verse, which in this case runs as follows: To my Valentine. To live always with you, dear, is what I desire Though that's "out of the frying pan Into the Are;" With some married couples this may be true, . But it would not be possible, sweetheart, with you. Here Is one of these valentines that has tied in the card, running throug-h the last Jlne in the manner here Indicated, a piece of string, the verses being: . , " To my Valentine. . You say your love for me will last Till all this fleeting life is past, rd fain believe this song you sing. But fear you have. me on, a string. Here Is one morer example. In this one there la a hook and eye, sewed on under the last Una of the verses: To my Vslenttne. May you and I forever be Attached as these below you see. These two always go together Though it be clear or stormy weather. And then are valentines of this sort with a miniature horseshoe attached, or a bit of sponge, or a little dust pan, and so on: the sevaral objects being In some manner related to the printed words appearing ap-pearing on the cards to which they are attached.
