John McCarthy, who on April 25th resigned aa an officer of the regular army and who was arrested the following day by Kansas Kan-sas City detectives and brought back to Leavenworth for obtaining money under false pretenses, la now In confinement at Fort Leavenworth to stand trial before a court-martial on the charge of duplicating duplicat-ing his pay accounts. McCarthy' atudent of rice r school mates got him out of trouble trou-ble with the civil authorities by raising' money for him, but the War department refusod to accept bis resignation aad ha will be court-martialed. . . |
