The secretary's report shows that 317 charters hsve been issued to national, na-tional, State, central, local trade and federal unions. Of this number the year saw the organization or-ganization of six national and inter j national unions. This is thirty more unions than were , organized in 1905. The international unions during the year organized 2328 loeal unions. There were reported 887 strikes, in which 91,530 ien were involved. Of that number 63,812 were benefited: 11,183 were not. The reported cost of the strikes was $3,982,865.66. Of benefits received by the members mem-bers 9? the various unions the report gives in totals, death benefits, $994,-K4.78; $994,-K4.78; death benefits to members' wives, $37,900; sick benefits, $663,-'36.61: $663,-'36.61: traveling benefits, $57,340.93; inemployed benefits, $79,582.70. I The report also shows that the Federation Fed-eration bad an income during the year of $217,815.18; that it expended $218,-540.04, $218,-540.04, and that it still has in the general gen-eral treasury and general and defense funds $113,540.60. President Gompers' report shows that there were affiliated with the American Federation of Labor September Septem-ber 30, 1906, 119 international unions, consisting of 27,500 local unions, 36 8tate federations, 538 central labor bodies and 7599 local trade and labor unions.
