Show "BOB" CAMPBELL QUITS STREET RAILWAY SYSTEM TO ENGAGE IN FARMING The resignation of Robert Ss Campbell, Camp-bell, general manager of the Utah Light and Railway company, which was tendered ten-dered October 31, has been .accepted by the board of directors. At the time that the Harriman interest inter-est secured the control of the company Mr. Campbell tendered his resignation to the newly-elected president, W. H. ' Bancroft. Mr. Campbell stated at that time that inasmuch as six of the directors direct-ors who bad held the controlling interest inter-est were retiring he thought it his duty to tender his resignation as general manager. The resignation was not accepted, and Mr. Campbell was asked to remain as j manager. Yesterday Mr. Campbell consummated a deal with P. H. Lannan of this city, whereby he became the owner of the famous' Lannan ranch in Payette vallc. Ida., one of the finest farms in the Gem State. It is understood that Mr. Campbell intends to devote all of his time to the farm, which consists of over 900 acres ol the finest farming land in Idaho. Mr. Campbell has been connected with the Utah Lifht and Railway company com-pany for the past nine years, and has been general manager oi' the company for nearly five years. During that time he has made the record of being the only man at the head of the company who has ever made the stock oay dividends. divi-dends. Among the employees of the companv Mr. Campbell is loved and respected re-spected such as few men have been who have been connected with the company, and his resignation will be keenly felt by them. One of the directors of the company, however, confirmed the report, and announced an-nounced that it went into effect at noon today. 1 Just who will succeed Mr. Campbell is not announced, though it will be a man from the East, who is expected to arrive ar-rive in this city. within a day or two. |
