Show . TOWNSITE AT POWHATTAN. The owners of the new itown-site itown-site of Powhattan,.in the Kosebud district, dis-trict, Humboldt county, Nevada, have engaged J. B. Van Fleet, a civil engineer engi-neer quite well and favorably known in Utah and Nevada, to lay out the town. He started last night with a force of men and under instructions to work as rapidly as possible and jntends staying permanently there. Mr. Van Fleet was formerly with the American Smelting and Refining company, and laid out the town of Garfield. Charles D. Boodlidge, one of the principal prin-cipal owners of the ground available for townsite purposes in the Bosebud section, said this morning that the report re-port of two towns being started was erroneous; that only one townsite was in evidence so far,- and it is known as 1 Powhattan and would be the metropolis of the Bosebud district. The ores found in the surface outcropping of that vi-einkv vi-einkv are high grade and silver-bearing ?rincipallv, with enough gold, however, 0 make it an object to mine them for the yellow contents altogether, were it necessary. The district is twenty-eight to thirty miles north of Humboldt county. Although the first discoveries were not made until September, there are reported to be over 100 men in the camp already, and many outfits sre pre- Faring to go in and get established be-ore be-ore snow flies over the hillsides in large quantities. |
