Show VRUNAUflY TRAIN t , ' - ""OGDEN,"Xov. 1C An-unknown Italian laborer , was instantly killed and six men injured by a runaway train at Montello, Nev.,)on the Southern South-ern Pacifie road, 120 miles west of here, aj 6:40 last night. A ttain consisting con-sisting of twenty-five cars loaded with dried fruit was coming down the steep grade leading into Montello, when the engineer discovered that the air would not work. He. whistled for. down brakes, after which he jumped from his engine. , The conductor ran along the top of the train and set several oand brakes, after which be returned to the caboose, which he cut loose from the fast moving mov-ing train, and saved himself from injury. in-jury. The train dashed into an engine at the station near where three Italians were working, one of whom was instantly in-stantly killed. Both engines and a number of the cars were a total wreck. The injured are; Frank Looser of Ogden, engineer, not expected to live; W. J. Conner, head brakeman, Ogden, not seriouslv Injured; J. E. Debano, Ogden. brakeman, , seriously . injured, |
