Show STEisS: .os twos V ' ' i - a Friday of this week will be "'choose day? with the motormen and conduct ors of the Utah Light . and Railway company. - On that day each carman, beginning with the oldest employee, will have a chance to choose his run. - This is the second time in the history of the company that .the men have had the privilege of choosing the run which they liked best. The new order of choosing runs went into effect last December. De-cember. Since that time a number of men have left the employ of the com pany, while a number of others have expressed a desire , to have a change. The policy of the company Is to give the men in their employ an opportunity to choose which run they wish about every six months. - As announced, "choose day", will be Friday, and the men will take their new runs next Sunday. A few of the old employees of the company have an-v nounced their intention of asking for a night shift during the summer months, with the intention of returning to the day shift at the next "choose day." which will likely be some time in October. Octo-ber. ,x "Choose day," however. will not mean any change in the time of the running of the cars, as the same schedule sched-ule will be maintained on nearly every line. It is the Intention of the company, com-pany, however, to add "trippers" on the heavily patronized lines as fast as possible. pos-sible. At the present time the company is furnishing a flve-mlnute service on the East Second Soutlv-Une from 5 to 7 p. m., and a 7tt-minute service on the Sixth street line during the same hours. Other lines with heavy patronage patron-age are furnished with a ten-minute service during these hours. ' The company has an order placed for five new care of the latest type for winter traffic. These cars are to be in Salt Lake by the first of next October. |
