Show THIRTY JAPS ARE KILLED Natlrcs of Dplka Attack a Tarty of Fishermen; Oily Ten Escape. BAN FRANCISCO. Sept. 28. The Examiner Ex-aminer says: Thirty Japanese fishermen fisher-men were murdered by the natives at the settlement of Uplka, which is situated sit-uated on' the Kamchatka peninsula, and a similar fate would have been visited vis-ited on ten other men had they iot - managed to' make their escape to the American cod fishing vessel S. N. Castle, Cas-tle, which was lying at anchor close to the settlement. The Japanese belonged to fishing schooners whose home port was Hakodate; Hako-date; The ten survivors were kept on board the Castle for several days, and then in a large sampan amply provisioned provi-sioned by Captain Ipsen, they set out for a Japanese - settlement some distance dis-tance away. - The news of the massacre was brought here on the S. N. Castle, which arrived from a cod fishing cruise in the Okhotsk sea yesterday. |
