For the first time in the history of the city, a comprehensive plan is being carried out to provide an adequate ade-quate and abundant supply of water for this city, even when it shall attain a population- of 260,000. which water is of a quality superior to any heretofore furnished fur-nished to the people of the city. The streets, and we demand the prompt and rigid enforcement of all contracts made with the city." In fulfillment of this pledge under two years of Democratic administration, adminis-tration, there have been constructed more than thirty miles of permanent sidewalks, more than two miles of street paving, more than seven miles of sewers, and several miles of water mains. The additional addi-tional work now under way and provided for by ordinance will be sufficient to make the total greater than in the entire history of the city previous to 1904.
