Show BLEW A 44 ! MILEGALE Wind Attained High Velocity Ve-locity Wednesday, and Chimneys Toppled. Salt Lake was given a touch of winter win-ter early Wednesday morning that Weather Forecaster Hyatt neglected to tell about in his report. A gentle sephyr out of the Northwest started toward Utah several days ago, and gradually accumulated speed and more breeze as It traveled so that at 4 o'clock Wednesday Wednes-day morning when it made Its appearance appear-ance in Salt Lake it was traveling at a rate of 44 miles an hour. The gale lasted more than an hour, and blew over a number of chimneys in the residence district and downtown. About 5 o'clock it died down, but again sprang up shortly before 7 o'clock and from then until noon there was a stiff breeze blowing at an average rate of about twenty-five miles. In the wake of the wind came some rain that turned to snow about 4:30 and fell for about thirty minutes, but the high wind kept the streets and sidewalks side-walks swept bare. |
