This was her statement yesterday after Orton pleaded plead-ed guilty to tba charge of bigamy. Or. ton claims ho married Mlso Hulda Nicholas to give her child a name. Ha waa admitted to ItOO bond ponding a report on tha case next- Tw24tr.- trie probation department. "I still love my husband," the first Mrs. Orton, who Is ths mother of throe children, said. "I am going to stay here aa long as there Is a chance of my jelng permitted to take hint boms with me." Asked If aha would take tha second Mra. Orton' babv should ths court mako that a condition to tho probation, she replied: "If ray husband, ths other woman and the court are willing, I suppose I will. I'm awfully sorry for Miss Nicholas, Nich-olas, but I believe my husband's story thst lis married her out of chivalry and because she wanted a name for her baby." During one of Mra Orton's visits to Brockton. Mass., Orton met Miss Nicholas. They were married last Juno snd llvsd together three weeks, then Orton dlssppeared. Tha young woman found him In Brockton and learned of hla previous marrisge when she visited him there. She returned to Detroit and filed tho bigamy charge. |
