Stevens after an illness ill ill- illness ill ness of several months She was 56 years old Noted principally for her activity in the general board of the L D S Relief society Mrs Stevens also was prominently identified with numerous numerous numerous nu nu- other church projects She was a former president of the Thirty-third Thirty ward Y W M I A and Primary association and was am a am m member e m b e r of the Liberty stake stakeY Y W M I A presidency She had Md been on the general Relief society board since January 22 1937 Born in Ogden Mrs Stevens was born in ih Ogden May 27 1885 a daughter of Asa C. C and Rachel Po Poulter lter Farley After c completing school at Ogden she taught in the city schools there and in Morgan county She he was married to A. A Stevens president and general manager of of Stevens and Wallis Inc in the Salt Lake L D S temple Stemple September 5 1907 She had resided in Salt L Lake ke City since 1902 Known widely for her musical compositions Mrs Stevens was awarded a prize February 28 1941 for composing Hail Utah Utah official official official cial University of Utah alma mater song Other Songs Many of the the best known Relief society songs were also composed by Mrs Stevens These include A UA A Hundred Thousand Strong Our Father in Heaven and The Work Were We're Called to Do She had ju just t completed a new composition forthe for forthe forthe the Relief society centennial celebration celebration celebration cele cele- bration next year And a Song Triumphant Triumphant Tri Tri- I Fills the Air Final work on the number was completed afew a afew afew few days before her death In addition to her husband Mrs Stevens is survived by a daughter Mrs Virginia Stevens Salt Lake City a son Robert S.
