Show A. H. Mortensen Wins D. S. A. For 1946 Key-Man Keys Go To Three Men Outstanding in Jaycee Club Activities During the Year, , Including Steve Miller, Ernest Boyer, Don Rigby A. H. Mortensen, president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, as presented with the Distinguished Service Award as the outstanding young man in Sprinp-yille during 1946, at the annual banquet and program sponsored by the Jaycees last Thursday evening in the Second Sec-ond ward hall. The presentation was made by Paul Haymond, who received the honor last year. In making the presentation, Mr. Haymond listed the many activities activi-ties in which the winner of the award had participated during the past year. Mr. Mortensen was president of the Springville Rodeo Corporation which had charge of the big entertainment feature during dur-ing the Black Hawk celebration. He is a member of the Zoning committee and is also on the Fifth ward building committee. He takes an active part in church work and j has operated a successful plumb- I ing and contracting business here, it was stated. He is a home owner, own-er, with a wife, three sons and a daughter, according to the list of qualifications which made him eligible eli-gible for the award. In addition to the D. S. A., three key-man keys were presented men in the Jaycee club who have done outstanding work in the organization organiza-tion during the year. These men were Ernest Boyer, Steve Miller : and Don Rigby and the awards were presented by Verl Whiting, a state director, Wallace Patrick and Clarence Smith, vice-presi- , dents. j The meeting featured an interesting inter-esting talk on leadership given by Dr. Wesley P. Loyd of the BYU with a short talk by Frances Cowan Cow-an and other visiting officials. Miss Cora Gardner entertained with an accordian selection and Lois Rasmussen gave a reading. The banquet was attended by a large group of Jaycee members and their guests. Ernest Boyer was toastmaster. |
