Show BLAZE DESTROYS CANYON WATERSHED Twenty-five acres of valuable watershed on the south slope of Slate canyon is practically a total to-tal loss apparently the result of some careless, unidentified person who dropped a lighted cigaret butt or match Saturday. A. L. Taylor, assistant Uintah forest supervisor and co-fire warden war-den for Utah county, said investigation inves-tigation has revealed that some person or persons went up the Slate canyon trail Saturday, but their identity is not. known. Mr. Taylor said a control line has been established around the fire tout "it will burn for several days." It took 25 firefighters about 12 hours to control the blaze. According to the forrestry official, of-ficial, the fire has done considerable consider-able damage to a valuable watershed water-shed and the area that was destroyed de-stroyed will be an erosion problem prob-lem for some time to come. |
