Show KAISER-FRAZER PLANT HITS RATED OUTPUT The Kaiser-Frazer blast furn- ace at Ironton has reached its rated capacity of about 800 tons of pig iron per day, according to E. J. Duffy, manager, and hopes to maintain it at that point or above as more coal and badly needed slag laddies become available. avail-able. The furnace was "blown in" May 19 and has gradually increased in-creased its production since then to the present rate of output. Normal operating force will be about 275 people at the Ironton plant when the organization settles into a steady routine. Output of the plant is shipped to several points both in the east and on the west coast, where it is sold or traded for steel which goes into the manufacture of Kaiser-Frazer automobiles. Ultimately, Ultimate-ly, when the steel demand levels off, output of the Ironton furnace is expected to be absorbed by the expanded pig iron demands of the Kaiser Fontana steel plant in California |
